Photography for Beginners
This workshop is aimed at beginners to the world of digital photography and is suitable for those with both point-and-shoot and SLR-type digital cameras.
The day will begin with a brief introduction in the classroom, learning basic camera menu settings to optimize your camera’s file capabilities. Please be sure to bring your instruction book as there are hundreds of digital cameras and it is impossible to know all the menu settings.
The majority of the day will be spent outdoors learning basic photography techniques, including:
- Holding the camera correctly and use of support aids (tripod, monopod, etc.)
- Obtaining correct exposure and understanding a histogram
- Choosing the correct aperture and shutter speed
- Simple rules of composition
- Choosing the correct focal length of lens … and much more
We will answer individual questions and provide assistance to those who are experiencing specific problems with their photography throughout the day.
At the end of the photography session we will return to the classroom and download each student’s images to critique. This is often the most important part of the day as you can learn much from looking at your own images and comparing them to the work of others.
