Isobel Springett

Born in Ramsgate England, Isobel had her first ride on a donkey at Brighton Beach, at the age of 5. After moving to Vancouver Island, Canada with her family in 1965 she continued to ride whatever had hooves and didn’t run away.
In 2001, Isobel and her husband Richard opened a restaurant and pub in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. Then in 2002 tragedy struck when she was the passenger in a truck and trailer accident, suffering a broken back and other injuries.  No longer able to ride at the level she had been, Isobel wanted to stay connected to the horse industry but was unable to ride and train as she had.

Then her husband bought her a digital camera for Christmas.  Isobel had always been an artist, so this seemed like a natural progression. And she could stay involved with horses. A quick learner, Isobel takes great pains to produce only the best images.  Her work is now featured on magazine covers, book covers and calendars world wide.

Her first book (featuring over 20 of her images), “Kate And Pippin, An Unlikely Love story” will be published by Henry Holt/Macmillan of N.Y. and Penguin Canada in February, 2012.    It is the story of the unusual relationship between a dog and a deer.

Isobel has also become a bit of an expert on the Brasilan Pantanal, having been there six times to photograph the amazing wildlife. She thinks nothing of jumping in to catch an Anaconda or climbing into the canopy of the rain forest to wake up with the Howler Monkeys. Isobel lives n the Comox Valley with her husband and son as well as many wild and domestic friends.

These days Isobel is busy with private shoots and horse shows as well as organizing photo trips to South and Central America.  She also teaches macro photography.
