About Us
Clock Tower Images Inc. was founded in 2001 with a mandate to produce still and moving images for several educational publishers, including Discovery Channel and Disney. Our work expanded when we signed a contract to produce short films for educational publisher Don Johnston Inc. of Chicago. This series of over 100 history and science films has been published under the name Incite! Learning Series.
Clock Tower’s founding partners Mike Byrne and Gavin Young have always pursued outdoor activities and it was a natural extension of their interests to start producing films and videos promoting outdoor adventures like cross-country skiing, hiking and kayaking. We currently act as official photographers at several sporting events including the Victoria International Triathlon and the Banff International Triathlon. Mr. Byrne worked for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics at the cross-country venue and has been offered a position as deputy photo manager at the 2012 London Summer Olympics.
In 2011 Clock Tower Images added professional photographer Isobel Springett to its stable. Based in Courtenay, BC, Ms. Springett brings a wealth of experience in horse and macro photography. She’s also world famous for her Kate & Pippin story. Associates Kim Ingram, Derek Lewers and Steve Godfrey have also been added.
A significant part of our business is providing hands-on workshops and courses in photography and videography. We pride ourselves in providing the best possible courses that are focussed, fun and personalized. Our primary instructors — Mr. Byrne and Ms. Springett — are passionate about photography and teaching and our small classes (maximum is eight) are great places to learn.
Our photographers and videographers have travelled much of the world seeking the best possible images for sports, nature and wildlife. Starting in 2008, Clock Tower began offering a limited series of Photo Safaris to exclusive international locations. Today our list of photo field trips and longer photo safaris continues to expand. Join us for a half-day of macro photography or birding, a day of bear photography, or multiple days of exploring (and photographing!) the Canadian Rockies, Vancouver Island’s west coast, Brazil’s Pantanal, and several outstanding locations in Africa.
Clock Tower Images has also pursued its own creative interests, writing and producing the feature film Shattered and the documentary Drugs are not the Problem.
Be sure to check out our video library for film trailers, music videos, and selected scenes from many of our projects.
Clock Tower Images continues to work with corporate clients while developing its own projects. Contact us any time to discuss any video needs you may have or if you’d like to discuss a specific project. Phone 250. 889.6700 or email mike@clocktowerimages.com
